Submission Guidelines
LCPG is currently only accepting submissions for the forthcoming horror anthology.
Submissions - StoriesTo submit something to us simply send an email with the word "SUBMISSION" in the title. Include the text of the work you would like considered as well as your name as you would like it to appear and a short blurb about you. We ask that you please only submit polished work that is ready for publication. We will try to give you some editorial advice if we think we can use what you have if you work with it some.
Because this is a non-profit project we do not offer any kind of fiscal payment for accepted submissions. What we do offer is a publishing credit and anyone who has been beating their head against the wall of the North American publishing system for any length of time knows how important that is.
By submitting something to us we by no means guarantee publication. Like any other publication we will chose a work based on its quality and if it fits into our publishing scheme. All the latter part means is we need to make sure we don't run too long with each issue. If a submission is rejected we will most likely not notify the author and we do not accept multiple submissions from an author. We will consider the first piece submitted only. If you are accepted you will receive notification.
If a piece of fiction is accepted for publication the author gives us permission to make standard editorial changes to the work. All this means is that, as editors, we will fix typos, omit excessive words, correct grammar, etc. We will not change the content of any work by making any changes to the narrative and we will most certainly not censor the piece. All contributors agree to this by choosing to submit work.
What We Want
What we publish is only quality short fiction. We want work 5,000-20,000 words though that rule can be bent if the work is particularly powerful and well paced. We are currently only looking at horror stories.
What We Don't Want
Mostly we don't want poetry. We feel that there are plenty of opportunities for poets out there while general fiction writers tend to get the short end of the stick. We are also not interested in any kind of fanfic. Not that there are not some real gems among fanfic but we want only 100% original material. We are also not interested in publishing serialized novels.
